Tis the season of giving. Some people on your list are easy to shop for. But for others, the perfect gift is a bit more elusive.
Fortunately, there is a one-size-fits-all, won’t get moldy in the fridge, never expires or goes out of style gift that anyone on your list would love: the gift of wellness.
How do you give someone wellness? You could buy a gym membership or pay for some yoga classes, maybe even new workout clothes. But those items could very well end up gathering dust while the recipient tries to find the time and motivation to start a fitness routine.
Or you can give a present that is sure to be used: a massage therapy appointment. Who wouldn’t make time for an hour of peaceful relaxation while a massage therapist works out the knots in your fascia and muscles after a hectic holiday season? That one massage just might be the catalyst for a healthier lifestyle. A single massage therapy appointment followed by daily stretching, which might lead to a greater routine of self-care. After all, small steps can lead to big leaps.
Even if you’re not hoping for a big shift in behavior, massage is still a great gift for anyone. Why? Because it just feels good. I can’t tell you how many of my clients rush in for an appointment so harried I can feel the stress radiating off of them. And as I work on them, they slowly give in to relaxation (remember the state of flow I mentioned in my last post?) as their muscles release and the fascia smoothes out. When they leave just an hour later, they are calm and ready to face the world again with serenity.
But don’t neglect the one person on your list who is most likely to be forgotten: you. I know some people feel that it’s selfish to shop for themselves at the holidays. But when you don’t make yourself a priority and neglect your self care needs, you’re sacrificing yourself. And when you do that, you can’t be your best self.
And if you do want to purchase the gift of wellness for others or treat yourself this holiday season, you’re in luck. Now through the end of the year, you can purchase a gift certificate for an hour-long massage for just $60. These gift certificates are good through the end of 2019, so you can feel confident that the recipient will find time to use it over the course of the next 12 months. And if you want to treat yourself, you can purchase gift certificates for yourself and effectively pre-pay for your appointments at a discount.
